Our Process:
1. Planning
Every great project starts with a framework. Here we go over your goals and requirements, and where you’d like to end up at the end of this ride. Once we’ve got our blueprint…
2. Design
This is where the project starts taking shape. We start in with layout and move into the user interface aspects (essentially the ‘look & feel’ of the site). From here we start to integrate content (logos, photos, copy) you already have, and create more of our own if need be.
3. Building & Integration
Once we’re fleshed out a site design, then we move into the coding phase. Would you like to edit your own website? What level of user interaction (community) do you want to develop? The answers to these questions will determine what type of content management system your project requires. We can either use an existing product, or create a brand new CMS from scratch, all depending on your project’s specific needs.
4. Testing
We’re almost there! Now that we have a great design and content management system in place, we want to make sure your viewers have a uniform experience, no matter what they’re using to access the web. This step also gives us a change to make some last-minute refinements before our last step…
5. Launch & Maintenance
And we’re off! Launch day is when your brand new site is open to the world. Now, where do we go from here? Over the next while after launch we can start to analyse how people are getting to your site, and where they’re going once they’re in. With this information, we can optimize your site even further so your viewers have the best experience possible.
We build all of our sites using established standards and portable code. We’ve never been big fans of sites made to run only in certain browsers, and we imagine you’re not either.
Another thing we tend to take seriously in design is website optimization. Like it or not, there’s still plenty of dialup users around the world, and it almost seems like many designers have forgot about them. Websites have been growing in image size, leaving those with slower connections in the dust. Nobody wants to wait 2 minutes just for the home page to show up!
One last thing — we don’t recycle: We treat every new project like a brand new day. You can feel confident in knowing your new website isn’t just someone else’s hand-me-down.
Web-based application development
While our main focus is web design, we’ve also developed web-based applications used both on the internet and on private networks (intranets). Our experience includes extensive PHP work, Java (and AJAX), using MySQL as a database backend. Some of our past development work includes:
- Company-wide Scheduling: One client was looking to retire their old scheduling system (MS Exchange) for something that was quick, clean and easily accessible, whether they were in the office, or on the road.
- Service & Inventory: Another client needed a centralized system to manage their service orders & support contracts, including an inventory of supported equipment per client.
- Community Website: We were approached by a group who runs an online hardware review site, which allows users to leave their own comments & reviews. Unsatisfied with available (bloated) content management products, we developed a system from scratch, specifically tailored and optimized for their needs.
